Positive Emotive Delivery (4 Day Course)
This course is designed for teachers to implement Brain Based Learning techniques and have a greater
understanding of emotional intelligence in the class room in order to initiate a paradigm
change that will revolutionise the way in which learning and education is developed to
create the school of the future. The objectives are:
- To introduce the key concepts of Brain Based Learning that proposes a model in which
we promote learning the way the brain is best and biologically designed to learn. It is
an approach to learning that favours the best natural operational principles with the
goal of attaining maximum attention, understanding and knowledge
- To train and develop teachers so that they in-turn may create and nurture an
environment where Brain Based Learning can flourish and be cascaded down throughout the
school
- To introduce a shift in thinking that will reshape people’s abilities and their
perceptions of continuous lifetime learning
- To ensure that the principles of Brain Based Learning have a significant, lasting
and positive impact on every member of staff
We have only outlined the content of this complex programme, as the final design will
depend on your precise needs and requirements and only after full discussions have taken
place with Dr. Paget can the final arrangements for the complete bespoke programme be
made.
Outline of Content
- An analysis of the process of teaching and its outcomes, known as Knowledge
Transfer (KT)
- The importance and relevance of Brain Based Learning and how it caters for the
infinite number of multiple learning strategies that will be used by each person
whenever they are in a teaching environment
- How to apply Brain Based Learning into existing teaching methods in order to improve and
maximise Knowledge Transfer
- How Brain Based Learning caters for the variations in learning styles
- A full explanation of the twelve principles of Brain Based Learning
- Every person attending the course will be required to choose a specific topic from
their specialist subject area; this will act as a practical focus throughout the four
days. Delegates will be shown how the concepts of Brain Based Learning techniques can
be applied to the material in order to improve its overall acceptance and
effectiveness
- How to integrate the application of Brain Based Learning into the classroom,
course notes and materials and into methods of delivery
- How each person can effectively measure the quality and standard of their teaching
through accurate assessment of Knowledge Transfer
Content Details
How to apply Brain Based Learning in the Classroom covers the following areas:
- The importance and effect of lighting within the room and why it can prevent
effective knowledge transfer from taking place
- What peripherals should be designed into the subject(s) they teach in order to
maximise KT. For example; posters and lists of ‘key words’
- The value of playing music in the classroom and its overall effect on KT
- Why certain seating layouts and arrangements can dramatically reduce the
effectiveness of KT and how simple changes can have a major impact
- How to turn a classroom into a positive learning environment prior to the
commencement of each lesson
Application and Integration
- How to establish an “immersed flow state” within the structure of a particular
subject or topic and when to inject high-powered motivators into the difficult parts
of it
- How to build novelty and contrast into the subject
- Understanding the mind-body link when planning your teaching of the subject
- How to introduce activities which will enhance knowledge transfer
- How to improve the students internalisation process when teaching the subject or
topic
- When to use concept mapping within course notes to supplement the text
- How the KT can be improved by changing text fonts
- How to design and introduce multiple memory systems to enhance KT
Application to the Delivery of a Subject
75% of all teachers will use sequential and analytical methods of delivery and their
training style and approach is organised to cater for this. 100% of all students attending
a class use multi-process learning streams, therefore the whole notion of learning styles
is irrelevant when we consider the sheer variety of ways in which the brain learns.
Teachers will be shown how to unlock the various learning styles in a very unique way
by using Brain Based Learning in their delivery.
